Fletcher "Kip" Potter

As an avid hiker and skier I have been coming to the Cold Hollow area for years from our long time home in Swanton Village. Finally, after our kids moved out and my wife and I retired, we were able to build a house and move to Montgomery, my favorite habitat; we are loving it!

I spent way too much time in college earning degrees in Environmental Studies and Natural Resources, followed by 28 years with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Colchester, VT. I got to spend those years working in wetlands, conserving farmland, and improving water quality. I am now continuing my conservation efforts by doing some part time work for Stone Environmental, working with the Green Mountain Club (both on the Board and on the trail), and as a new member of the Montgomery Conservation Commission.

In the spring I am in the woods and sugarhouse making some of the sweet stuff. In the Summer I am out and about riding a motorcycle on back roads, hiking the trails, golfing, and fishing. Fall is time for making cider (some hard), fruit wines, and other adult beverages. Winter is lots of time on Jay Peak Mountain, skiing and helping others as a patroller.

Retirement is busy but great!

I look forward to working with CHC to lend my experiences to the conservation work that the organization is so driven to achieve with the mission of preserving these regional mountains and forests that I love.
